The National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) is a premier cultural institution of India located in Mumbai. It was the brainchild of two of India’s visionaries JRD Tata and Dr Jamshed Bhaba, who visualised the need for an all-encompassing international performing arts centre. It was inaugurated in 1969 to emerge as the largest multi-venue centre in South Asia to showcase the rich heritage of India in the fields of music, drama, theatre, film, literature, photography and a host of other fields. NCPA is the largest performing arts centre in the country which hosts around 700 events every year.

World luminaries like Satyajit Ray and Yehudi Menuhin have been its earliest mentors providing it with the aura of an international centre of repute. It boasts the best-appointed auditoriums in the country in terms of expertise and equipment. Besides, it houses galleries, libraries, restaurants and numerous reception spaces.

There are five auditoria in the campus hosting a variety of events of every genre. Tata theatre is famed for its innovative design, created by postmodernist American Architect Philip Johnson.
