Legendary Musician A. R. Rahman to Celebrate His 25 Years in Music with A Grand Tour Across India

Oscar winning Indian musical legend A.R. Rahman is soon to celebrate his 25 years in music with a stellar multi-city India tour that is probably his biggest in the country. He will be performing in Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad. BookMyShow along with Live Viacom18 will be bringing this spectacular event in association with MTV to audiences. A.R. Rahman will be accompanied by some talented musicians that are sure to have you rooted and will enhance his performance at the same time.

While announcing his grand tour, Rahman had said in a statement, “It has been an incredible journey over these last 25 years. Sometimes when I ponder I get goose bumps because the Almighty has been kind in giving me happiness that has only multiplied year after year.” He began his career with Mani Ratnam’s 1992 film ‘Roja’. Rahman is a recipient of many national and international awards and honours. He is a Padma Bhushan winner, the highest civilian award in India, which was conferred on him in 2010 by the Government of India. He has also received international recognition and acclaim in the form of two Academy Award wins as well as two Grammy awards.
A.R. Rahman, won the Academy Award in the categories ‘Best Original Score’ and ‘Best Original Song’ for the movie Slumdog Millionaire and was also nominated in these same categories for the movie 127 Hours. Interestingly, both films were directed by Danny Boyle. His two Grammy wins were also for the soundtrack for Slumdog Millionaire in the categories – ‘Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media’ and ‘Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.’

Reflecting on his journey in the industry, Rahman said, “Music serves as a spiritual bond between the audience and myself. I am excited about performing at home after such a long gap. From a husband and father, to a composer and mentor, I have embraced different roles, but music has been a constant.”

The concerts are scheduled to take place from late November to mid December this year.
