Ed Sheeran, the English singer-songwriter, guitarist and recording artist is making his way to Mumbai this November. The Asian leg of his world tour is being bought to India by AEG Presents and PR Worldwide in collaboration with BookMyShow.
Ed’s popularity began in 2011 as he rose to fame with his debut album “+“ which included instant hits such as, “The A Team”, “Lego House” and “Give Me Love”. In 2012 he won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act.

Ed became popular in the U.S. by featuring on a song along with pop-sensation Taylor Swift. He went on to be nominated at the Grammy Awards and even performed with Sir Elton John. Fast forward to today, Ed has morphed into probably the world’s biggest one-man band and plays to crowds that span generations and genders but is largely still skewed towards young women and girls.
After all there’s nothing this singer-songwriter can’t do, he sings, raps, beatboxes and stings out melodies from his guitar, all the while seeming quite nonchalant. He sells out arena’s quick and the pop sensation is known for his ability to grant the crowds a level of intimacy that is somewhat missing in today’s performance art.
Ed Sheeran so far has released all of three studio albums – + (read as plus), x (read as multiply) and ÷ (read as divide), all of which have been hugely successful and made him millions of dollars. So much so that as of June 2017, Forbes has estimated him worth to be about $37 million and The Richest estimates his net worth to be about $68 million. Needless to say he had already made the Forbes list of highest paid celebrities.
Ed’s recent hit “Shape of You” has been sitting in the top 5 of the Hot 100 Billboard list for about six months. It has been purchased and downloaded hundreds of times and according to the Independent, the song has been streamed over 1 billion times as of June!
This is not the first time the hit-maker would be coming to India, he visited Mumbai back in 2015 for the Fly Music Festival at the 225 acres’ open-air venue at Mahalaxmi Racecourse. For someone who went to the first concert there is a lasting image of Ed wearing a long dark blue kurta and having an Indian flag wrapped around one of his two mike stands.

At the concert in 2015, Ed Sheeran had crooned all night with nothing but his acoustic guitar and looping pedal. There was a strong crowd of about 10,000 fans at the time rooting for the 24-year old (at the time) singer.Almost everybody was enthralled and sang along to hits from his album x (multiply). His music that night ranged from ballads to rap songs and even a Nina Simone tribute of the song “Feeling Good”. The icing on the cake was when he ended the show saying, “This has been one of my favourite nights on the tour”. No wonder the Grammy Award winning artist is heading to Mumbai again.
So get grooving to the beats of Ed’s hit songs that are nothing but acoustic jams with some radio heavy hooks that’ll surely be playing in your head for weeks on end (if it hasn’t already!). Watch Ed Sheeran live in Mumbai on the 19th of November.
