Comic Con India: The Perfect Gateway To Fictional Fanboying

Comic Con India Festival
Written by Archit Chawla

Comic-Con is a term which has the potential to make people go all crazy and fanboy like never before. There is a strange pull towards the movies and shows we watch and somehow we connect with the protagonists. Be it the DC or Marvel superheroes or Game Of Thrones characters or actors from shows like Arrow, The Big Bang Theory, Dragon Ball Z and Sherlock, Comic-Con is the best way to get close to your favorites. From the beginning, the founders of the festival set out to include not only the comic books they loved but also other aspects of the popular shows and movies that they enjoyed and felt deserved wider recognition, including all science fiction/fantasy literature.

Comic-Con India (CCI) following the same guidelines was started with an inaugural show in February of 2011 in Delhi. The first ever Indian Comic Con as it was called then was hosted at the open-air craft bazaar, Dilli Haat, in the capital. Held over 2 days, it featured 25 exhibitors and attracted close to 5000 visitors. Over the years, Comic Con India expanded to 5 cities- Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad & Pune and manages to attract over 1,50,000 visitors cumulatively with over 1000 exhibitors. They are dedicated to creating unique events and giving the fans, exhibitors and partners a platform to celebrate their undying love and passion for comics & pop culture.

The platform brings together comic creators, science fiction and fantasy authors and popular characters all over the world closer to their fans and audiences giving them a chance to meet and know the insights about the fictional world they are from. Comic-Con India, since it’s inception in 2011 has expanded to grow not only in cities but also in terms of the special guests, number of visitors and the unique offerings they put in front. Even now if you are not convinced to go for Comic Con India or not, there is, of course, a chance that you might get to meet one of your favorite artist, writer or actor during the event. You can make friends with other people and exchange smiles with who you feel comfortable with and share same interests.

Archit Chawla

Coming from the land of temples and Gods, he is no 'saint'. Archit Chawla is a highly motivated, controlling and a narcissistic nut with an inclination towards sports. He loves to spend his time playing tennis, binge-watching DC and Marvel stuff and karaokeing in the places he shouldn't. He is a big time 'Don Draper' fan and you wouldn't want to argue with him when it comes to 'Game Of Thrones'. With a friendly personality and the famous curls, he is unarguably our first 'Go To' person.
