Jaipur Lit Fest
Written by Varsha Pillai
The 11th Edition of Jaipur Literature Festival has begun amidst all the uproar surrounding the release of Padmaavat.

This 5-day Kumbh Mela of Literature will witness over 380 speakers and thousands of literary enthusiasts eager to be engrossed in sessions imparting knowledge, diverse perspectives and entertainment.

This time, the festival is tightly monitored because of the threats from the Rajput group Karni Sena over CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi attending the festival.

Sanjay K. Roy, Managing Director of the festival organizer Teamworks Arts said that CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi is yet to confirm his attendance.

“We don’t have a confirmation yet. I think he may not want to vitiate the atmosphere. Though if he does come, the state government has promised to provide security, and ensure his safety as well as that of the audience. The festival will continue to be a platform where people will listen to different perspectives, whether they agree with it or not.” – Sanjay K. Roy
Prasoon Joshi is scheduled to join in a conversation with writer and filmmaker Anu Singh Choudhury on Sunday, January 28. The session is titled “Main Aur Woh: Conversations with Myself”.

Apart from the CBFC chief, the Greatest Literature Festival on Earth is peppered with literature, political and cultural giants like former Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai, writers Michael Ondaatje, Amy Tan, Philip Norman, Helen Fielding, Sujatha Gidla, Shashi Tharoor, Julia Donaldson, Chetan Bhagat, Ashwin Sanghi, Rupi Kaur and Gurmehar Kaur.

Jaipur Lit Fest Speakers

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Anurag Kashyap, Mira Nair, Sharmila Tagore, Soha Ali Khan and Vishal Bhardwaj are the representatives from the film industry who would be making an appearance at Jaipur Film Festival.
