“Where there is a need, there is a Lion!”

Lions Clubs International have been serving the global society for 100 years now and is one of the leading service club organizations of the world. Way back to their inception in 1917 by Melvin Jones at their headquarters in Illinois, their mission is to serve the underserved and underprivileged with unmatched dedication. Lions Clubs have been working day and night and undertaking various humanitarian projects in order to make this world a better place to live. Undertaking a proactive role towards community service, the members organize various fundraising events, health check-ups, donation drives and what not.

True to the credo of “We Serve”, Lions Clubs have had a beautiful past and will complete 100 years of service in 2017. To mark this glorious event in the history of mankind, Lions Centennial Marathon is going to be organized in Chennai on 29th January 2017. The marathon will be organized by the District 324A1 and start at the iconic landmark of Chennai- the lighthouse of Marina Beach. Also, there will be no bar on the age as participants young and old can take part in the 10 km run starting at 5:30 a.m. and 5 km run starting at 6:00 a.m.

In these modern times, running has become a sensation and running for a cause has become almost synonymous to social work and showing concern for the underserved. Registrations are open at a nominal fee of ₹700 which includes Tshirt, Goodie bag, Bib Number, Cap, Certificate of Participation, Medal and refreshments. This sports event in Chennai will be witnessing a great support from the youth as well as the athletes from all around the country who want to make a contribution towards the community.

As fortunate individuals, it’s truly relating to spend and share time with ones who deserve to be loved equally as us. So this sports event is calling all the marathon lovers and social activists to participate in great numbers and do their bit towards the society. This event will go a long way in further promoting running in the city and to encourage a fit and a healthy lifestyle.
