Awards and Celebrities go hand in hand in today’s time. The Filmfare Awards are equivalent to the Oscars for Bollywood and also in the South Indian Film Industry. The award show was founded in the year 1954 by Times Group when Indian cinema was in its golden era. The film industry in India was witnessing some of the finest work from all around the world and the filmmakers and actors continuously strived to compete with those out West. Even after 62 years, it is placed right above all the other awards shows which glorify the performances of different professionals working in the industry.

The most coveted and distinguished award of the country, Filmfare is back now, with the 64th edition of Jio Filmfare Awards South 2017, to recognize the best films in South India that hit the silver screen last year. Eminent actor, Dhanush along with Filmfare editor, Mr. Jitesh Pillai, were seen marking Filmfare’s 64th year of commemorating and acknowledging the South film fraternity by lighting the ceremonial lamp at Reliance Digital store in Chennai last month.

The film fraternity in the South has entertained the Indian audiences for more than a decade, and has marked their presence in the hearts of the people from across the globe. The spell-binding music, out of the box stunts, striking visuals and exceptional stories are some of the defining features that the South film industry boasts of in today’s time. Legendary artist like Rajinikanth, the biggest asset to the film community, as well as renowned actors such as Kamal Hassan, Rana Daggubati, Dhanush, Prabhas, Ram Charan and many others, have time and again featured in Hindi films as well, proving their mettle.

This whimsical saga goes on every year when the awards come approaching and the guesses just take over our mind till we see our favourites with the black trophy. Filmfare has provided these ace actors a platform to reach out to a greater set of audiences, thereby helping them to further showcase their exceptional skill set. Let's hope we get to see some realistic drama and well-timed jokes by the hosts of this year. The tickets are out on BookMyShow and will get over before you could even get over with “Mera vachan hi shaasan hai!” So what are you waiting for, get them now and witness all the big south Indian stars competing for the most prestigious awards ever on June 17!.
