Lucknow Central is the story of a Moradabad guy, Kisan Mohan Girhotra, who aspires to become a Bhojpuri singer. But as fate would have it, he ends up in jail as an accused of a high profile murder. After being sentenced to life imprisonment, he is sent to one of the most dreaded jails of the country, Lucknow Central. How he forms a music band along with other inmates and fights for his innocence forms the crux of the movie. It’s a strong, emotional and dramatic film about a jail escape. Diana Penty plays the love interest of Farhan's character in the film. Apparently, Kriti Sanon was supposed to do this role, but due to date unavailability, this role went to Diana Penty. Farhan and Diana will share the screen space together for the first time.
Just a few days ago, YRF announced their upcoming Bollywood movie, Qaidi Band, which is also based on the life behind the bars. This film will be a launch pad for Ranbir Kapoor's cousin, Aadar Jain, and Anya Singh. Qaidi Band is about seven young inmates, whose love for music brings them closer and they form a band in jail. The shooting of the film has already been completed and it is now ready to release on 25th August. Seems like after being inspired by the era of emergency and women empowerment, now life behind the bars inspires the film makers.
