While the Indian cricket team is currently playing the Asia Cup, the country is getting all set to host the ICC T20 World Cup. The tournament will begin on March 8 and will culminate on April 3rd. A total of sixteen teams will be participating in this edition of the World Cup. The format divides the matches into two categories which are the Group Stages and the Super 10 stage.

The Group Stages have Group A and Group B in it. Each group has a total of four teams and the winner of each group will make it to the Super 10 round. The Group Stages has all the minnows in it. This is to ensure that there is no major upset which causes one of the main teams to be ousted from the tournament. So, the teams in the group stages are Bangladesh, Netherlands, Oman, Ireland, Scotland, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Hong Kong.

Coming to the Super 10, one group consists of Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies and England. The other one, which can be called the Group of Death has India, New Zealand, Australia and Pakistan. The matches will be held all across the country and the venues for the semi-finals and the final match have already been chosen. While the first semi-final will take place at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi, the venue for the second semi-final is the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The final match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 will take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Talking about the tournament, Team India are clearly the favorites. After all, the team has fared exceptionally well in T20 matches and since they are playing on their home ground, it gives them all the more advantage. The other teams that have strong chances are Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Sure, Australia and South Africa boasts of tough sides, but the subcontinent teams are more familiar with the conditions in India. The proof of this is the 2011 ICC World Cup as India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan made it to the semifinals, and the final too had both subcontinent teams.

Fans in India are all excited for the upcoming World Cup. They will definitely head to the stadium and cheer for the Men in Blue. This should boost the morale of MS Dhoni and his team.
