The best thing about the Cricket Champions Trophy, is its format. Well it’s short and sweet, and gets over before you even know it. The tournament lasts a little over two weeks, during which time the eight best One-Day International sides in the world compete to become the best playing side in this 50over game of cricket. If we go to assess the one consistent performer in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, it is definitely going to be the rain. Almost every match has been washed out by rain, or at least there has been a threat of it and D/L Method has taken over it. The tournament which started from June 01 on the English soil has seen more rain than some blasting cricketing performances and records being broken.

The defending champions India are pooled with South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Group B whereas Group A consists of Australia, New Zealand, England and Bangladesh. This is the first tournament where Virat Kohli is leading team India in an ICC Championship after M.S. Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy earlier this year. Where Group A seems to be more washed out because of the rains and Australia being the most affected team, Team B is not much behind.

As we move to the tiring end of the group stage and teams look to book their berth in the semi-final, rain finds itself again in the scene. As far as Group B is concerned, it is said that rain could well determine who qualifies for the semis. All the four teams have won one match each until now. We can say thanks to Pakistan’s win over South Africa and Sri Lanka’s triumph over defending champions India yesterday by a huge difference of 7 wickets. The group is now pretty wide open and anyone can perform well in the next games and move to the semis.

Over the next four days in the tournament, weather is going to play a very important role. The tournament has already ruled out the West Indies Team due to their poor ODI rankings (currently being 9th). Even after 7 days of game play, the tournament is still open and it’s really tough to predict the winner of the trophy. The game is really turning interesting with the underdogs team Pakistan, Srilanka and Bangladesh getting in the precarious spots. Well, we would suggest not to leave your country’s side and buy the tickets for ICC Champions Trophy 2017 on Bookmyshow, because now they need your support more than ever.
