Meri Pyaari Bindu is a latest Bollywood rom-com movie, directed by newcomer Akshay Roy. This movie stars Ayushmann Khurrana(famous from Vicky Donor) and Parineeti Chopra (famous from Ishaqzaade) in the lead roles and is set in the city of Kolkata. Ever since the trailer of this much anticipated movie was released, we all were waiting for this one fresh looking flick, but it has failed to bring in something new and fresh to the table. The movie is produced by YRF studios and is Parineeti’s 7th film after Kill Dil which released in 2014.

Ayushmann Khurrana playing Abhimanyu Babla Roy is a writer who suffers from a writer’s block when asked to pen down a love story. Well that’s not a new thing for a writer but the reason for it is what pulls the movie’s wagon forward. He has been writing in different genres like horror and sex-comedies but refrained from trying his hands on anything to do with romance. The reason is his childhood crush and long lost love Bindu (Parineeti Chopra), an aspirant singer. The movie looks like it is inspired a lot from 2009 English flick ‘500 Days Of Summer’ which starred Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon Levitt.

The movie shuttles between the past and present, shows us glimpses of his past and how he fell in love with Bindu and her bold, fun attitude and then comes back to present. However, Bindu, who had dreams of becoming a famous singer, could not commit to any one relationship and leaves Abhimanyu in between. Ambitious as well as confused are two apt adjectives that can be used for Bindu when she moves from one city to another in the hopes of making her dreams come true. But destiny had different plans for both the leading actors.

Director Akshay Roy has beautifully captured the city of Kolkata along with getting us nostalgic with old evergreen Hindi songs and audio cassettes. The music of the movie given by Pritam is a huge positive and will leave you humming throughout the day. The chemistry of the lead pair will leave you in awe and you should definitely go for this movie if you want some freshness in your lives and enjoy this romantic musical with the young pair spreading magic on the screen!
