The empress of Bollywood, Sri Devi, is all set to come back on big screen after almost 5 years. After winning our hearts with English Vinglish in 2012, Sri Devi returns in action again on screen in her upcoming suspense thriller movie, Mom , directed by Ravi Udywar and produced by Boney Kapoor. We have seen her playing a mother in English Vinglish too, but in Mom she is will seen playing a strong step-mother who is on a hunt to find her daughter. It's a story of a stormy relationship between a woman and her 18-year old step-daughter. It also features Akshaye Khanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Adnan Siddiqui (a Pakistani actor) in pivotal roles. Currently in its promotional phase, Mom is booked to cinemas on July 7 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
The first motion poster of the film was released on April 1st which featured an intense poem about mother. Although the makers have kept the plot of the film tightly under wraps, we know for sure the movie is about the unconditional love of a mother and how she can go to any extent for the well-being of her children. And this same message is conveyed loud and clear in the first motion poster of the film. The message got even more power in the highly persuasive voice of Nawazuddin Siddique when he establishes what you call your maa is immaterial, for her role stays the same in your life. The actor will be seen in a cameo appearance in the film.
The teaser of the film which has been released a few weeks back has got the curiosity and excitement levels soaring high. Sri Devi grips you in this 45 second long intriguing teaser. Another highlight of the teaser is Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Known for getting into the skin of the character, the actor is seen as on old man with prosthetics, who is running away from someone. Not just in India, the teaser is also well received in Pakistan. And there's a reason behind this. The girl who plays the daughter of Sridevi is a famous Pakistani actor named Sajal Ali.
The film looks amazing and the teaser keeps our excitement levels high. Slated to release this July, we can barely wait more to watch Sri Devi again on the big screen.
