The biggest and most prestigious semi-pro music band competition in India, Livewire Nite – Mood Indigo is back with its multi-city tour, this time in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata. Livewire has been instrumental in promoting the Indian independent music scene. It is the flagship event of Mood Indigo – Asia’s Largest College Cultural Festival and has a phenomenal legacy of 36 years. Livewire 2016 aims towards providing something to each and every band that is up for making a mark in the professional circuit. For those who don't know, the past winners of the competition include Parikrama, Pentagram, Vayu, High Time, Demonic Resurrection, Motherjane, Kraken, Zero and several others who have now conquered the professional music scene in India.

This year, the journey to Mood Indigo got started with online auditions where, selected by an internal panel, the top 5 bands from each region were chosen. These top five bands from each region were being invited for regional gigs to showcase their talent for a substantial duration at the best local venue. Out of these bands, three finalists were chosen and these top three will now perform live on Livewire Nite, in front of a crowd of 20,000 people. This finale of Livewire Nite – Mood Indigo will be held on 23rd of December at Gymkhana of IIT Bombay. Along with openning for the Livewire Nite at Mood Indigo, these top three finalists will also get a slot at the globally renowned Sofar Sounds. The winner will get a slot in Nouvelle Prague – International Music Showcase Festival in Czech Republic and will also be featured on an exclusive article by Rolling Stone India Magazine.

Continuing its legacy of 36 years, Mood Indigo is bringing another gem of a Rock band to India, Crown the Empire. Considered to be one of the most energetic bands in the post-hardcore scene with a phenomenal live set, Crown the Empire is an American rock band formed in 2010. Since then, the band has been performing their music concerts across the World. The top three finalists will get a chance to perform with the band at the Livewire Nite. The audience will also get to witness India's three-piece garage/alternative rock band from Chennai, Skrat open for Crown The Empire. It will be an amazing night of live rock music for sure!
