Bhaskar Oru Rascal that was delayed due to the Kollywood strike finally hit the theatres on Thursday, May 18 2018. However, earlier the film was scheduled for a Pongal release. The movie is directed by Siddiqui who also helmed the original film starring Mammmootty and Nayanthara in lead roles. Touted to be a feel-good family entertainer, Bhaskar Oru Rascal stars Arvind Swamy and Amala Paul in lead roles.

A fresh pairing, this movie sees Arvind Swamy and Amala Paul in lead roles as single parents. The movie is directed by Siddique of ‘Kaavalam’ fame. Arvind Swamy is definitely breaking all the stereotypes surrounding the types of roles he has done earlier.

Bhaskar Oru Rascal tries to explore the relationship between two single parents and their kids. However, the kids are complete opposites of their parents. As the title suggests, Bhaskar is rude and unruly while his son his polite. Meanwhile, Anu (Amala) is calm and composed but her daughter wants to face issues head-on. What follows next is a heartfelt tale of two kids trying to set up their diametrically opposite parents and dreaming of living together as the perfect family.

There are some heart-warming moments in the film that will definitely put a smile on your face. However, Arvind Swamy is the shining star of the movie. He is absolutely brilliant in the few action scenes that he has got. The child actors are quite adorable. For most parts, the children were treated as responsible adults by their parents, which sent a good message.
