The much-awaited action thriller, Irumbuthirai finally hit the screens on May 11 2018. The trailer of the movie piqued a lot of interest on social media and sent fans into a frenzy. The Tamil action thriller has been directed by P. S. Mithran and it features Vishal, Samantha Akkineni, and Arjun in lead roles.

Irumbuthirai was first scheduled to release in March. However, owing to the 48 days industry strike, the release of the movie got delayed. Samantha Akkineni and Vishal are starring together in a movie for the first time in their careers. The first look posters of both the actors together had created quite a buzz on social media and thousands of fans eagerly waited for the movie to release. It finally released on Friday, May 11 2018 and is leaving the audiences awestruck with its gripping storyline.

The movie traces the story of Kathivaran portrayed by Vishal who is a Major in the Indian army and is said to have anger management issues. He is therefore forced by his superiors to attend anger management counseling sessions. This is where he meets his counselor DR. Rathi Devi (Samantha Akkineni). Both of them grow closer and develop an emotional understanding. Things seem to finally work out when due to compelling reasons the Major has no choice but to borrow a loan from the bank under false documents. A twist in the story arrives when there is no money left in the bank. Kathiravan tracks down the ones behind the scam hence leading to White Devil who is deemed to be a master hacker.

What works for the film is the plot and the intriguing storyline. The thrilling action scenes will definitely keep your eyes glued to the screen. However, what works best for the film is how well the makers have developed the character of the antagonist. He is nowhere to be seen until the intermission but his presence is sensed in almost every scene, creating a sense of fear. The antagonist is brutal and unapologetic and has done a phenomenal job.
