We have seen the duo of Tiger Shroff and the director Sabbir Khan who have given us films Heropanti and Baaghi in the past, and they are back. Yes they are back with the latest Hindi release Munna Michael which also stars Gangs Of Wasseypur actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. They have roped in a new face this time, Nidhhi Agerwal, to play the female lead and be the love interest in this dance action film. The most exciting part of the film perhaps is Nawazuddin in his cool-dude gangster avatar, who at the end of the day is trying really hard to save the film.
Munna Michael is the foster son of Michael played by Ronit Roy and is born to be an MJ fan and wants to dance just like him. Michael was a dancer in movies and shows and that’s where Tiger’s inspiration lies. From where he gets his prowess to fight like a martial art expert is still a mystery even after the movie. Maybe it seems like somewhere deep inside, he is a Jackie Chan fan as well. Well jokes apart, this movie has got a lot of action and dance sequences and Tiger Shroff is nailing that part as usual. He has a pet phrase in the film ‘Munna jhagda nahin karta, Munna sirf peet ta hai’ which is repeated so often that it loses impact towards the end.
A Rajasthani dialect-spouting thug Mahinder played by Nawazuddin is the main attraction of the film it seems. In the movie, he brings goofiness and life to almost every mundane and the wasted scene with his unique style. He wants to learn how to dance in order to impress the girl Nidhhi Agerwal, which happens to be Munna’s love interest too. The ambitious protagonist agrees to become the goon’s dance instructor because he sees his interest in the association. Ronit Roy, on the other hand, is wasted and seems like he is spoofing all the Christian characters there have ever been in the movies. After his intense menacing and shrewd politician act in Kaabil opposite Hrithik Roshan, this one was like stepping several steps down.
Overall Tiger Shroff, with all his limitations, is beginning to get out and improve his standards, but what his choice of roles and films tells us is that dance and action are his cup of tea. If you’re a Tiger fan, go for this action dance flick and well, Nawaz will be your bonus. Get your tickets now and have a good time with your friends and family by watching this movie with some upbeat music and dance numbers.
