Written by Pooja

Genius directors like Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick etc have given us masterpieces. While these masterpieces are great movies with elements that are synonymous with superlative cinema, movies with twisted endings are something that has dropped our jaws more than the others. Here are five movies with endings so twisted that you’ll feel the pinch in your brains.

Fight Club

When the badass Tyler Durden shows up for the first time in the frustrated and insomniac narrator’s life, little do we know that the reveal of the century is waiting for us. Tyler and the narrator make plans to attain freedom from debt by burning down buildings with the records but we (and the narrator) don’t know is that Tyler and the narrator are the same person.

Primal Fear

This one also stars Edward Norton as Aaron Stampler, who is arrested for the brutal murder of an Archbishop. Martin Vail (Richard Gere) a defense attorney decides to defend the 19-year-old boy with a shy demeanor and a stutter. However, little do you know that Stampler is playing Vail to get an acquittal.

The Others

A family lives in an old house and the mother goes around doing motherly things like laundry and taking care of the kids. However, something is not right as they keep experiencing some “odd” occurrences. The reveal leaves you wide-eyed as you realize that the mother and children are the ones haunting the family’s house who are performing a seance for their paranormal experiences.

Shutter Island

US Marshal Teddy Daniels shows up at a secluded island that hosts an asylum with his new partner Chuck Aule. Teddy is looking into the disappearance of a patient Rachel Solando and thinks that the asylum has something to hide. However, as he gets deeper into the investigation, the twisted the tale seems. Finally it is revealed that Teddy is not a US Marshall but is a patient on the island itself.

Sixth Sense

Sixth Sense is a movie with one of the most twisted endings of all time. Child psychologist Malcolm Crow counsels a little boy Cole Sears, who is able to see and talk to dead people. It is then revealed that Crowe had actually succumbed to a gunshot wound earlier.
