1. Bhoot (2003)
Directed by Ram Gopal Verma, this movie stars Ajay Devgn and Urmila Matondkar in the lead roles as a married couple. When they move into a flat that is haunted by a spirit, a series of inexplicable experiences drive her to near madness. Now Ajay must protect his wife to save their marriage and get rid of the ghost who has possessed his wife.
2. Raaz (2002)
Coming from the Bhatt camp, this movie stars Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles. In order to save their marriage, they go to Ooty where they are visited by a ghost. The ghost is Dino’s ex girlfriend and the story takes a serious turn when the spirit starts making their life miserable.
3. Darna Mana Hai (2003)
A unique and innovative attempt by Ram Gopal Varma where he provided the Indian audiences with a horror film which consists of six different short stories narrated by friends in a jungle. The star cast includes Sameera Reddy, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Isha Koppikar Nana Patekar and is loosely inspired from the Hollywood movie Campfire Tales.
4. 13 B (2009)
A unique concept again in a Hindi movie where the protagonist R Madhvan experiences a supernatural occurrence at his newly purchased apartment. The story goes creepy when this soap opera being telecast exclusively on his TV, shows the future of his family. He is torn between the supernatural and real and has to save his family from the upcoming series of events.
5. Bhool Bhulaiya (2007)
Bhool Bhulaiya is a Indian horror/comedy movie which stars Akshay Kumar, Shiney Ahuja, Vidya Balan and Rajpal Yadav in the lead roles. The protagonist Vidya Balan is suffering from dissociative identity disorder, an actual mental health problem which leads to several mishappenings and a series of unfortunate events with the people around her.
6- Phoonk 2 (2008)
The prequel Phoonk ends with the killing of Madhu (Ashwini Kelsekar), the woman who casts a black magic spell on Rajiv’s daughter Raksha (Ahsaas Channa). Phoonk 2 begins with Madhu’s ghost returning from her grave to seek revenge on the family and give them the horror of their life. On bagging a new construction project, Rajiv moves with his family to a new place and the conditions get worse there.
7- Raaz The Mystery Continues (2009)
The Bhatt camp does it again by taking the lead character as Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut in the lead roles. The movie also has Adhyyan Suman and the story takes an interesting turn when this architect’s (Emraan’s) painting turns out to be a real human ( Kangana). When he finds her, he also gets to know that she is haunted and huinted for reasons they have discover.
8- Ek Thi Daayan (2013)
Directed by Kannan Iyer, this movie has Emraan Hashmi, Huma Qureshi and Kalki Koechlin in the lead roles. The story revolves the magician Bobo, who is India’s leading magician. But unknown to even his beautiful girlfriend Tamara (Huma Qureshi), his life is falling apart as hallucinations about his dead little sister Misha are casting a dark shadow on his life, threatening his very sanity. Though the story is loosely packed, it is definitely a one time watch.
This horror movie has roots deep down in the religion. After forsakinng his family and religion, the husband settles down with his christian wife in Palanpur to get to know that she is possessed by an evil spirit. The house where they move in has a will and life of its own and later troubles the couple and make them believe in the spirits and the horror which they bring upon. Ajah Sharma and Rajneesh Duggal play the lead couple and the movie is directed by Vikram Bhatt.
