The Indian International Film Awards 2018 took off in June to celebrate the best of
Bollywood, hosted by Karan Johar and Riteish Deshmukh. The biggest Bollywood celebrities
came together in Bangkok and, as you can imagine, it was nothing short of a grand spectacle.
The star-studded night was telecast on Colors TV this Sunday night.
The showstopper of the evening was none other than the timeless Bollywood beauty – Rekha.
She took everyone back to the golden years of Hindi cinema, performing live on stage after 20
years. She brought back all her popular dance numbers right from In Aankhon ki Masti to
Salaam E Ishq meri jaan.
Following her nostalgia-inducing performance the new generation of Bollywood took to the
stage. Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon set the stage on fire with their sizzling chemistry. Varun
Dhawan performed to some of his popular tracks while Shraddha Kapoor danced to the beats
of her popular song Humma Humma. And Ranbir Kapoor, who does not perform at shows too
often, took centre stage to groove to Balam Pichkari.
The top honours of the night went to the Vidya Balan-starrer Tumhari Sulu for the Best Picture
and to Sridevi and Irrfan Khan for the Best Female Actor in a Leading Role and the Best Male
Actor in a Leading Role respectively. The Best Director award went to Saket Chaudhary for
Hindi Medium. The IIFA Awards also paid tribute to late actors Sridevi and Shashi Kapoor.
And Anupam Kher, who has over 500 films to his credit, was also honoured with with the
Outstanding Achievement Award for his considerable contribution to the field.
