Our Khiladi Kumar is on high these days! After bagging his first National Award for his brilliant performance in Rustom and Airlift , Akshay Kumar met PM Modi for a chat about his upcoming movie, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Interestingly, this film is a satirical comedy film about PM Narendra Modi’s favorite project, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a campaign to improve the sanitation conditions in India with emphasis on the reduction of open defecation in public areas, especially in the rural areas of India. This Clean India campaign of the Modi government has won the country global acclaim too.

Akshay especially took time with PM Modi to tell him about this film. The funny title of the film was enough to make our PM smile! The actor took to Twitter to share this light moment with a caption saying: “Met PM @narendramodi and got the opportunity to tell him about my upcoming ‘Toilet-Ek Prem Katha.’ His smile at just the title made my day!”. Over the last few years, Akshay Kumar has made a concious effort to make films with powerful social messages. His upcoming Bollywood movie, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha also has a strong social message to deliver, inspired by the PM’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”

Helmed by Shree Narayan Singh and co-produced by Akshay Kumar himself, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha revolves around a couple that tackles the menace of open defecation in their village. Slated to release on 11th August, the film stars Bhumi Pednekar opposite Akshay, and Sana Khan and Anupam Kher in important roles. The film has already been in the limelight for quite some time now for its quirky and funny posters. The title itself generates curiosity amongst the movie buffs.

Akshay Kumar is known to go beyond his stardom on-screen to support and participate actively towards social causes. During the shooting of this film, Akshay realised the need to educate people about this issue and to do this, he himself went to a remote village in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh and dug pits to build toilets. When a renowned actor does something like this, he deserves appreciation! It is his good deeds and works, both on and off screen that he has done and has been doing, that make him an inspiration and a role model for the common man.
