Acting, singing, dancing, hosting; the megastar Amitabh Bachchan has done it all! With his latest movie, 102 Not Out, he is again pushing the boundaries of extraordinary cinema. As he returns as a 102 year old father trying to get his unenthusiastic son on track, the audience will be convinced that this superstar shall forever be Not Out!
This being said, what is making news apart from his spectacular acting is a song that he has sung in the movie. No, we are not talking about the energetic Badumbaaa, but of Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam. The new song is a reprisal of the classic Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam from the film Kaagaz Ke Phool. Originally composed by R.D. Burman, this song had set souls on fire even when it first released in 1959.
Senior Bachchan is not new to singing. Having made his debut with the song Mere Paas Aao from Mr Natwarlal (1979), he has lent his baritone voice to quite a new songs which have managed to create an uproar in the hearts of music lovers. Neela Aasman So Gaya and Rang Barse from Silsila (1981), Mere Angne Mein from Laawaris (1981) and Main Yahan Tu Wahan from Baghban (2003) Ekla Cholo Re from Kahaani (2012) and Piddly Si Baatein from Shamitabh (2015) are all works of this spectacular artist, the legend, Amitabh Bachchan.
Adopted from a Gujarati play, Umesh Shukla, 102 Not Out is a humorous take on the life of an old man who wants to break the record of the oldest living soul on earth. What adds to the fun is his 75 year old son (Rishi Kapoor) who is sincerely uninterested in this and who does not reciprocate the enthusiasm at all.
