The famous Bollywood actor Anupam Kher is portraying the role of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in an upcoming biopic The Accidental Prime Minister. Based on a memoir of the same name by the political commentator Sanjaya Baru who is now the Secretary General of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the film will be a biographical political drama.
Anupam Kher yesterday on Twitter revealed his first reaction to getting the role of Manmohan Singh. Replying to a fan’s question, he stated “I was amused and confused in the beginning. But then I read the script. It blew my mind. It challenged the actor in me.” He also went on to say that the most challenging parts of the role were portraying the politician’s walk and voice accurately. He also conveyed his changed views on Dr. Manmohan Singh by saying that he has realized after shooting the film that he has a multi-dimensional persona.
Akshaye Khanna will be playing the role of Sanjaya Baru in the film with Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi, Aahana Kumra as Priyanka Gandhi, and Vimal Verma as Lalu Prasad Yadav. Current Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be a part of the film, but the actor portraying him has not been revealed yet.
The Accidental Prime Minister is scheduled to release on 21 December, 2018, and there’s already quite a lot of excitement about the film. It will be the first time that we will see such recent political events in a biopic, and it will quite interesting to see how the film will be received by the audience.
