Anushka Sharma has been bestowed upon the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award 2018, for her phenomenal contribution in terms of content-driven movies produced under Clean Slate Films.
At the age of 25, Anushka Sharma became the youngest producer ever. Her career as a producer started off with NH10 in 2015 under the banner, Clean Slate Films. The production house is co-owned by Anushka and her brother Karnesh Sharma.
Since 2015, the production house has produced three movies namely; NH10, Phillauri and Pari. All three movies dabbled with three different genres. Through their production house, the actress and her brother aim to back and believe in raw talent. Therefore recognising the actress’ efforts in backing and promoting content-driven and experimental films, the foundation bestowed upon her the prestigious title.
Her most recent outing Pari was well-received by many as the movie was a stepping stone in terms of how the horror film genre is perceived in our country. The fact that the movie performed well, sheds light on the fact that the audience is interested in a shift of genres and enjoys watching off-beat movies.
