Banita Sandhu October
Written by Heer Pamnani

Banita is a simpleton, a citizen of the UK, pursuing her Bachelor’s in Literature, and is yet to graduate from college. However, in this side of the world, we recently got a glimpse of the young 20-year old, seen in a secretive ailment, smelling flowers amid the scenic landscapes of Manali.

Banita has earlier done a few TV commercials and featured in short films, before being picked up for her debut launch with October. Banita’s forefathers moved to Britain from Punjab, North India, after the World War Two. Her parents were born and raised in Britain and gave her and her sibling a middle class upbringing in Caerleon, South Wales.

Her beautiful persona landed her an ad for Wrigley’s, an advert directed by Shoojit Sircar. She was asked to take up lessons in Hindi language, to play the lead protagonist in this unusual story about love. Banita recently mentioned in an interview that there were no workshops for her scenes in October, which directly put her on the path to emote naturally, with most sincerity.

Playing a hotel management intern alongside Varun Dhawan, their regular mundane professional duty and life is drastically changed when she is hospitalized for a seemingly serious condition.

Banita was happy to learn about the Indian culture through the film. She said”

“As we had no relatives in India, I had no reason to learn about it or engage with this history. So I loved learning more about the culture and my family’s lives, struggles and traditions”
