The late Sridevi’s daughter – Janhvi – will be making her big screen debut with Dhadak. The film is directed by Shashank Khaitan of Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania fame. In Dhadak, Janhvi is paired opposite Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother, Ishaan Khattar. The young lad was previously seen in Majid Majidi’s Beyond The Clouds which hit theatres earlier this year. Khattar has also acted in Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi! When way back in 2005.
There was a lot of speculation about Janhvi’s debut project and only in mid-2017 did Karan Johar make the announcement of Dhadak on Twitter. The film is the official Hindi remake of Nagraj Manjule’s critically-acclaimed Sairat which starred Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar. The Marathi movie was a blockbuster and made its two leads overnight successes.
Dhadak has mainly been shot in Rajasthan as the movie is based on families residing in the state. For the last schedule, the crew moved to Kolkata while some songs were shot at a studio in Mumbai. The hit track – Zingat – has been recreated in Hindi and Ajay-Atul have worked on the same. The Dhadak trailer will be out today and the entire Kapoor family is expected to grace the launch event. Supporting Janhvi will be her dad, Boney and younger sister, Khushi. After the demise of Sridevi, Karan Johar became a support system for the young actress and is making sure that her first film becomes a big success. Well, going by Johar's track record of launching star kids, we are sure Dhadak will set the cash registers ringing.
