One of 2018’s most-anticipated movie and a much-awaited musical comedy finally hit the theatres on 3rd August. Directed by Atul Manjrekar, Fanney Khan is based on the 2000 Dutch film, ‘Everybody Famous.’ The movie stars Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rajkumar Rao, Divya Dutta and Pihu Sand in pivotal roles. Fanney Khan also marks the on-screen reunion of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anil Kapoor after a stint of 17 years.
Anil Kapoor plays the titular character of a middle-aged man who is a father to a young, ambitious daughter with weight issues. However, once a struggling singer himself Fanney Khan pushes his daughter to be a singer and dreams for her to become a star. Things get interesting when Fanney Khan and his accomplice Adhir (Rajkumar Rao) end up kidnapping pop star Baby Singh to turn their dreams into reality. Anil Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao definitely make Fanney Khan worth a watch with knockout performances. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Baby Singh absolutely stays true to her character of a gorgeous popstar. Rajkumar Rao’s apt comic timing doesn’t look forced at all and is hard to miss. Pihu Sand marks a remarkable debut and effortlessly captures the vulnerability of the character she plays. The song ‘Tera Jaisa Tu Hai’ will definitely stay with you for a long time.
