Great Grand Masti: Neither Great nor Grand, Sans Masti

Great Grand Masti movie review
Written by Mansi Gupta

Two films later, the Masti franchise returns with its same old template. The only difference is, this time, we have a ghost, teasing and seducing these three sex deprived husbands. All the rest would be the same as expected – Riteish’s repetitive and crass jokes, Aftab’s exaggerated expressions, Vivek’s complicated and boring life and a whole lot of oomph quotient. Unfortunately, the movie fails to capitalize on the strong franchise value, owing to a poor script which hardly offers any masti or entertainment to the audience.

Those who have been following the escapades (or should we say sexapades?) of the masti boys in this Hindi Adult movie franchise, would know why these three sex deprived husbands seek some harmless fun outside. This time as well, the trio (Amar, Prem and Meet) deprived of “Ghar ki Biryani” decide to try “Bahar ki Biryani” or rather “Gaon ki Biryani”. They make a plan and on the pretext of selling his native haveli, Amar with his friends leaves for Dudhwadi village which gives an amazing opportunity for these sex-starved friends to have some fun outside marriage. But little did they know that a sex deprived ghost awaits them. Ragini (Urvashi Rautela) is a ghost who died virgin and now her only wish is to have a passionate night and lose her virginity to rest in peace. And from her starts the chase, unlike previous parts, the trio is chased by a ghost who wants to do masti with them.

Great Grand Masti has nothing new to offer. According to most of the film reviews, the movie is pure cheeky fun, meant only for those who enjoy innuendos. The film has comfortably positioned itself as an adult comedy with a horror element attached to it. Coming to the cast performance, Aftab and Vivek are just unbearable in this Hindi Comedy movie. The only actor who can be counted upon as far as acting is concerned is Ritesh Deshmukh. But then again his repetitive and crass jokes would irritate you after a point. Urvashi Rautela gets the maximum screen space and she looks stunning as a “bhootni”. She is just made to rant, shimmy and shake in old-Bollywood vamp style. She is worth a watch in the song, “Resham Ka Rumal” Her dance move will make you watch the video again and again.

To sum it all, watch Great Grand Masti only if you have a taste in adult comedies.
