The International Indian Film Academy awards are taking place in Bangkok this year. After a stint of 35 years in the film industry, veteran actor Anupam Kher is set to receive a lifetime achievement award for his outstanding contribution to the film industry.
Anupam Kher who is now 63 is said to have worked in over 500 films and has featured in projects both in India and abroad. Anupam Kher started his career in Bollywood in 1984 with Saaransh. Over his three decades long stint in the film industry, Anupam Kher has worked in many acclaimed international films like Bend It like Beckham that received a Golden Globe nomination, Ang Lee’s Golden Lion-winning Lust, and David O Russell’s Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook.
Anupam Kher has been conferred upon the prestigious Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan in 2004 and 2016 respectively, for his outstanding contribution in the field of Cinema and arts. The phenomenal actor was also nominated for a BAFTA for the BBC TV movie, The Boy with the Topknot. He has received two National Film Awards and 8 Filmfare awards and is the chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification and the National School of Drama in India.
