The first International film fest organised at Khelgaon, the 2018 Jharkhand International Film Festival concluded with a star-studded awards night. The function featured popular personalities from Bollywood, international stars, known faces from the television industry along with eminent individuals from the State. A variety of celebrities were honoured for creating a distinct space in different streams of cinema.
Actor Akhilendra Mishra presented the Milestone of Jharkhand Film Policy award to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. Bhatt, in turn, gave away the Sridevi Excellence Award to renowned actress Priyanka Chopra. Her mother Madhu Chopra received the honour on behalf of her daughter. Chopra, who couldn’t make it to the event, thanked everyone in a video message. She said that she was honoured to receive the Sridevi memorial Excellence Award at the inaugural Jharkhand International Film Festival. She further said that Sridevi had always been her favourite and that she was humbled to receive an award in her name.
Other awardees at the festival included folk singer Sapna Choudhary, actors Ravi Kishan and Rajpal Yadav, and director-producer-screenwriter Ramesh Sippy who conducted a workshop on the Art of Filmmaking. The concluding day also featured a talk show on VFX for the budding artists by Stephen Marks who is the Senior VP of Prime Focus.
