So we are just in 2017, and the first big announcement from Tinseltown is here. Ace director Karan Johar, and Salman Khan have come together for their first joint production, and they have roped in none other than, Akshay “Khiladi” Kumar. It can not get bigger than this! When Karan Johar, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar – three of the most Powerful men of the industry come together, we can’t ask for more! The outcome would be illustrious, we are sure!

Karan Johar has worked with Salman Khan in his directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and has produced “Brothers” which starred Akshay Kumar. After Mujhse Shaadi Karogi in 2004 and Jaan-e-Mann in 2006, we haven’t seen Salman and Akshay together in a movie. Both the times when the duo came together on the big screen, they created magic. Now after over a decade, the two superstars are teaming up to give us a blockbuster again. The film will be co-produced by Dharma Productions and Salman Khan films and helmed by Anurag Singh, well known for directing Punjabi blockbusters, Punjab 1984 and Jatt and Juliet series.

The subject of this untitled film has not been revealed yet, but sources from the industry say that it will be a period drama based on the 1897 battle of Sargarhi, fought between the British Indian Army and Afghan tribesmen. And Akshay is rumored to play the role of Havaldar Ishwar Singh in this period drama. The film will release in 2018. Interestingly, it is the third upcoming film on Sargarhi, the first being Rajkumar Santoshi’s untitled Randeep Hooda starrer, and the second one is Ajay Devgn’s Sons of Sardaar: The Battle of Sargarhi. However, both these films have been delayed since a long time.

2016 proved to be a successful year for Akshay Kumar. All his three films Rustom, Airlift and Housefull 3 were loved by audiences. This year, he will be seen in 4 movies, Jolly LLB 2, Toilet Ek Prem Katha with Bhumi Pednekar, 2.0 with Rajnikanth and a film titled Pad Man. After seeing his track record of delivering hit after hit, we can only expect a masterpiece from Khiladi Kumar. This untitled film, co-produced by Salman Khan and Karan Johar is scheduled to go on floors in the second half of this year and will release in 2018.
