Directed by Akarsh Khurrana, Karwaan is a slice of life comedy-drama film that released on August 3, 2018. The film marks the Bollywood debut of Malayalam actor, Dulquer Salman. The film stars Irrfan Khan, DQ Salman and Mithila Palkar in lead roles.
A light-hearted comedy, the film tells a story of three misfits, two misplaced dead bodies and a journey of a lifetime. Avinash (DQ Salman) hates his IT job and would rather become a photographer but continues working because of his nagging father. When Avinash’s father passes away and the body reaches another family, Shaukat (Irrfan Khan) offers his help and accompanies Avinash from Bengaluru to Kochi to exchange the body. On route, they meet Tanya (Mithila Palkar) who is the granddaughter of the deceased with whom Avinash’s father’s body was exchanged. Then begins a story of three people who don’t want to be a part of the journey but end up enduring each other.
As usual, Irrfan Khan is effortless in his role and is a definite delight to watch on screen. Such is the ease with which Irrfan Khan performs that it looks like he is playing himself in the film. However, Dulquer’s effortless charm and warm presence on the screen makes Karwaan a must watch. He is proven himself to be a good actor in Malayalam films but with Karwaan he seems Bollywood-ready. Mithila Palkar is convincing as the rebellious and impulsive teen, Tanya.
Karwaan is full of heartfelt conversations, friendship goals, and takes the audience on a roller coaster ride. Emotions, chaos and adventures, Karwaan has it all. Don’t forget to catch this awesome movie in theatres near you.
