Loveratri In a Middle of a Political Controversy

Written by Pooja

There has been a trend in Bollywood that many films with historic or cultural themes have been in soup with various political groups. The latest controversy surround the film Loveratri, a potential October 2018 release, which traces a love story of a young couple over a period of nine days of Navratri. Loveratri is a debut film for both the lead actors – Aayush Sharma and Warina Hossain.

On 22nd May, the international president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Alok Sharma announced that the film’s title “Loveratri” misrepresents the Hindu festival of Navratri. He went on to add that it may hurt religious sentiments. The party has publicly opposed the screening of Loveratri in cinema halls. Recently, films like Padmaavat and S Durga have been a part of such political controversies.

As per the news up until now, Loveratri is all set to release around the time of the Navratri festival and is supposedly set in Gujurat. The film has been produced by Salman Khan Films and launches Salmkan Khan’s brother-in-law Aayush Sharma and newcomer Warina Hossain. There was much hooplah when Salman Khan took to Twitter with “Mujhe ladki mil gayi” and announced Warina as one half of this fresh lead pairing. The film has been directed by Abhiraj Minawala. Minawala has been associated with films like Fan with Shah Rukh Khan and the Salman Khan starrer Sultan, as an assistant director.
