Both Mirzya and MSG fared badly at the Box Office

Mirzya movie details

Last week, two big Hindi action movies released, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mirzya’ starring Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher, and Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s “MSG-The Warrior Lion Heart’’ & unfortunately both proved to be disasters at the box office. Both Mirzya and MSG failed to impresses the audiences. Both Hindi movies registered very poor box office collections in their first weekend.

Anil Kapoor’s son, Harshvardhan Kapoor debuted in Bollywood with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s epic romance, Mirzya. Though the film received mixed reviews from the film critics, it failed to make a mark at the box office. Mehra is praised for his direction and cinematography but overall the film was not able to create excitement amongst the audience. This adaptation of romantic tragedy of Mirza-Sahiban, made on a whopping budget of over 35 crores just managed to gross approx 2 crores on day 1. Even on the second day it recorded tragic collections. This ambitious love legend of Mirza and Sahiban proved to be a letdown. The only solace that the filmmaker can draw from Mirzya is its music. Shankar-Ehsaan- Loy’s music literally takes the movie forward. Though not a musical in the literal sense, the film can be called a lyrical ballet. The visuals of Mirzya are breathtaking. But sadly, the film is a beauty without depth. Strong content is what Mirzya lacks and this results in the crashing of the film at the box office. Mirzya could turn out to be director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s biggest disaster till date.

Badly bashed up by the critics, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s ‘MSG-The Warrior Lion Heart’ performed even worse than Mirzya. The action movie can be best defined as a long non-ending commercial of Dera Sachcha Sauda which is made only for the fans of Baba Ram Rahim Singh Insaan. Produced, Directed, written, acted, edited and sung by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan, MSG is a complete washout. It has just recorded under 7% of occupancy in all India. As expected (for those who watched the previous two editions of this film) the movie has amateurish acting, shoddy direction, trashy effects, over-the-top action and not-funny dialogues. The film with a run time of 1 hr 58 mins is excruciatingly awful not only for non-believers but for the adoring followers of baba Ram Rahim, each scene is a super-hit. As expected, the film bombed at the box office.
