Amidst the endless rumours of Akshay Kumar starrer Padman getting pushed ahead to give way for Padmaavat, the news has finally been confirmed this evening. It was speculated for a long time that next weekend would see the mammoth clash of two big releases on January 25th, 2018. It is reported that the director of the historical drama Padmaavat, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has requested Akshay to move the dates finally.
In the sudden turn of events, the R Balki directorial, starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte has bowed out of the box-office battle and will release on February 9, 2018 along with Siddharth Malhotra starrer Aiyaary.
Its a good move from the makers from the collections point of view as the frenzy surrounding Padmaavat soaring with each passing day and PadMan being a low budget film, it would’ve turned suicidal for the business of R Balki directorial.
When asked about the clash, Padman star Akshay Kumar has said- “It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come, both the films can release on that day. Every film has the right to release whenever they want, and I am happy for them.”
