At the end of week 2, John Abraham’s latest release has entered the 50-crore club. Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran which had released on the 25th of May, 2018 is John Abraham’s highest grosser till date. Madras Café and New York are his second and third highest grossers, respectively.
The box-office performance of the film is a testament to the fact that content shall and will rule the box-office. The film had faced various hurdles ever since its announcement in April 2017. To avoid clashing with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat, the crew had rescheduled their shoot. Additionally, there was a tussle between the co-producers, John Abraham and Prerna Arora of KriArj Entertainment.
The movie was then taken to the court and two weeks before the release, the matters was resolved with KriArj Entertainment no longer having any production rights over the movie. The movie’s production rights are currently owned by Zee Studios John Abraham Entertainment and Kyta Productions.
Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran is based on the true story of the nuclear tests that were held at Pokhran in 1998. Starring John Abraham, Diana Penty and Boman Irani in pivotal roles, the movie is directed by Abhishek Sharma.
