Pran Krishan Sikand, known by the mononym Pran was the epitome of evil on the silver screen, so much that newborns were not named after him. He lived and breathed malice into the characters he played in movies like Ziddi, Bari Behan, Azaad, Devdas, Aadmi and Dil Diya Dard Liya amongst others. He even made evil look chic on screen with his stylish sense of dressing.

Apart from his villainous roles, he also played many comic and character roles in his rich career which spanned for six decades. His roles in Zanjeer, Victoria No. 203 and Amar Akbar Antony remain some of the most popular character roles played by him. He was also one of the highest paid actors of his time.

On his 98th birth anniversary, megastar Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to pay homage to his Zanjeer co-star. He tweeted:

In the movie Bobby directed by Raj Kapoor to launch his son Rishi Kapoor, Pran played the role of his rich father. Later their onscreen association bloomed in many movies. Remembering Pran, Kapoor tweeted:

Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee also remembered the actor on his 98th birth anniversary. She tweeted:
