Sanjay Dutt is in the news once again, and it’s not because of his biopic, Sanju, whose trailer released just yesterday. Sanjay Dutt is planning to come back to the screen, and starring opposite him will be Manisha Koirala. The two haven’t been seen together in 10 years in a movie so the one bringing them together is obviously a special project. The film is going to be a Hindi remake of the Telugu film Prasthanam.
Prasthanam came out in 2010 and starred Sharwanand, Sai Kumar, Sundeep Kishan, Ruby Parihar, and Vennela Kishore. It was a political thriller that received good reception from both the audiences and critics, and also went on to earn several awards such as state government media awards, two Filmfare awards, and was also screened at a film festival at Goa. With so much praise received from the original film, there are bound to be high expectations from the Hindi remake as well.
In the Hindi remake, Sanjay Dutt will be playing the role that was originally played by Sai Kumar. Manisha Koirala will be playing his wife in the film. Apart from these two, the remake is confirmed to star Ali Fazal and Amyra Dastur, and it is also rumored that Sooraj Pancholi will be starring in the film.
The Prasthanam director, Deva Katta, will be helming the direction of the remake as well, so it is certain that the main themes of the Telugu film will remain intact. The Hindi remake will be produced by Sanjay Dutt Productions and is scheduled to be extensively shot in Lucknow. Stay tuned for more updates on the film.
