Seems like Sanjay Leela Bhansali has finally found his Sahir Ludhianvi in Abhishek Bachchan. For the uninitiated, Bhansali had, in the past, expressed his desire to make a biopic of the renowned poet and lyricist, Sahir Ludhianvi. He was in search for an actor who can play the poet on screen and finally if reports are to be believed, he has found his Ludhinavi in Abhishek Bachchan. In fact the actor has begun the preparation for this role. He has reportedly lost 12 kgs to fit in the shoes of this popular poet. The leading lady of the film is not yet announced, but rumours are that Priyanka Chopra will play the role of Amrita Pritam, the love interest of Sahir Ludhianvi.

In the past, many film makers have shown interest in making a film on the life of Sahir Ludhianvi. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, however cleared the air and confirmed that he is the one who will bring the life of the poet on the celluloid. The film is most likely titled as “Gustakhiyan”. After considering Shah Rukh Khan and Irrfan Khan for the much-coveted role, Bhansali signed Abhishek Bachchan to portray this legendary poet on screen. The actor has been learning the works of Ludhianvi and familiarising himself with it. It is not the first time Abhishek will be portraying a real life character on screen. He played the revolutionary Surya Sen in Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se in 2010 and the protagonist in Guru in 2007, which is inspired by the story of Dhirubhai Ambani.

While Sanjay Leela Bhansali is busy with his upcoming Bollywood film, Padmavati, these days, Abhishek Bachchan is also shooting for the last leg of his upcoming film, Paltan, helmed by J.P. Dutta. After giving us war dramas like Border, Refugee and LOC: Kargil, J.P. Dutta will be making a come back after a long time with Paltan, which is supposedly based on Indo-China war of 1962. Like his previous films, this film will also be a multi-starrer, featuring actors like, Arjun Rampal, Pulkit Samrat, Suniel Shetty, Sonu Sood, Jimmy Shergill, Luv Sinha, Siddhant Kapoor and Jackie Shroff. The shooting of the film is going on at full swing and the movie is scheduled to be released in the Summer of 2018.
