Here Are Some of Shashi Kapoor’s Best Movies

An icon of Indian cinema passed away recently and one can only describe his numerous contributions to cinema and how it changed the lives of audiences and the people around him. The Late Shri Shashi Kapoor acted in more than 150 films and went from being a child artist to a Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner as well as a National Award winner. He was also awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Indian government in 2011. The actor was also known for his contribution to theatre as he famously set up the iconic Prithvi Theatre in 1978 with his wife and late English actress Jennifer Kendal. For the uninitiated, here are some of his must-watch movies.

Without a doubt the most iconic movie that Shashi Kapoor starred in with the most iconic dialogues which are used even today from ‘Mere Paas Maa Hai’, to ‘Aaj Khush to Bahut Hoge Tum?’, ‘Main Aaj Bhi Feke Hue Paise Nahi Uthata’ and more. The films story touched the hearts of many at the time in the 70’s and continues to do so with its universal theme of good vs bad, with two brothers flourishing on either side of the law. The movie also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Nirupa Roy, Praveen Babi and Neetu Singh.

Songs from the movie like Jawani Jan-E- Man, Pag Ghungroo Baandh and Raat Baaki Baat Baaki have been cherished for generations together. The movie narrates the story of a man who works in a hotel and learns about a conspiracy against the owner of the hotel and tries to save his life.
