Another “millennial love story” is set to hit the theatres. While the last millennial love story failed to live up to its hype at the box-office, all eyes are peeled on this upcoming movie to get the formula of young love right. The movie we’re talking about is Shaad Ali’s Ok Jaanu, which has lately been in the news for having dropped its first trailer. This movie has been under the spotlight ever since its inception.
There have been two fundamental reasons behind the social buzz the movie has garnered so far. The first being that Ok Jaanu is a remake of Mani Ratnam’s hit Tamil movie O Kadhal Kanmani or OK Kanmani that released last year. The movie starred Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen in the lead and became an instant hit, with critics deeming it as one of Mani Ratnam’s finest films so far. When the news hit that the movie was being remade by Shaad Ali for a Bollywood audience, there were mixed reactions to it. The legions of fans of the Tamil movie were none too happy with this development.
But a large section of the audience was excited with the casting of the lead pair, which brings us to reason number two. Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor will be seen sharing the screen space together for the first time since Aashiqui 2. Their sizzling chemistry caught a lot of eyeballs, and the same charm is expected to work its magic in OK Jaanu as well. And by the looks of it boy do they look great together!
Young and fresh, Shraddha and Aditya’s chemistry is refreshing to watch the preview of OK Jannu. Their portrayal of a millennial couple has the right amount of youthfulness and carefree attitude. They’re this generation’s answer to Shah Rukh and Kajol and definitely need to appear in more movies together.
This Bollywood movie brings the age-old conflict of love v/s career to the forefront. Will the heart choose love over career or will it be the other way round? It’s the question the movie chooses to explore. If you’ve watched OK Kanmani or know what the movie is about, chances are you already know the answer to the question. None the less, the fiery chemistry between the two Kapoors is a good reason to give this movie a shot. That too with a blend of A.R Rahman’s radiant music on offer.
