Bollywood actors (and actresses) today don’t shy away from going an extra mile to breathe life into their characters. From Aamir Khan learning wrestling for Dangal to Akshay Kumar practicing hockey for Gold and Kangana Ranaut taking lessons in Horse Riding for her upcoming film, Manikarnika to Priyanka Chopra, who had taken a 45 days rigorous strength training for Mary Kom, it has become a norm for actors in Bollywood to invest time in learning skills, mannerism and language to fit in their role effortlessly. Actors also want to venture into uncharted waters when they sign up to learn a new skill that would add depth to their on-screen character and make it more believable.

Seems like Sushant Singh Rajput has gone a little farther to prepare for his role in an upcoming film called Chanda Mama Door Ke. He is playing the role of an astronaut in the film and to step into the shoes of an astronaut, he is undergoing a special training at NASA itself. For the first time ever an Indian actor has been welcomed by NASA to get trained for a role. He will be participating in workshops and various training regimes aimed at acquainting him with the life of an astronaut, in a very realistic manner.

Chanda Mama Door Ke is touted to be the first space adventure film from India. Directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan and produced by Viki Rajani, it also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and R. Madhavan in important roles. Aamir Khan will be giving his voice to the film. Tracing the journey of India’s space programme and culminating with India’s first astronaut landing on the Moon, Chanda Mama Door Ke will go on floors in September and will be ready to release next year on Republic Day.

Apart from playing an astronaut in Chanda Mama Door Ke, Sushant Singh Rajput has quite a few ambitious projects lined up. He will next be seen in Dharma Productions’ action comedy, Drive, with Jacqueline Fernandez. Then he has been signed by Abhishek Kapoor for his next film, Kedarnath, which is Jhanvi Kapoor’s dream debut. All these films are ready to go on floors and are slated to release next year. The actor is surely having a gala time!
