Sushant Singh Rajput is one of the few actors to make a successful transition from TV shows to films. Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Irrfan Khan, and SSR, all television actors have failed to make a career as a leading man in Hindi films. Sushant made his debut with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che in 2013 and his biggest hit in the past five years is M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story.
SSR played the role of the prolific cricketer in this biopic by Neeraj Pandey. The film opened to big numbers and was considered as one of the highest grossers of 2016. Rajput’s performance was praised by the critics and he was flooded with offers from some of the most noted filmmakers in the country. Last year, he worked on Raabta which unfortunately tanked at the box-office. But things are looking positive for the star as he just wrapped up Kedarnath and is gearing up for the release of Tarun Mansukhani’s Drive. While the former hits theatres in November, the action-thriller will be out on September 7, 2018.
Besides this, there are reports that Rajput will begin work on the sequel to MS Dhoni’s biopic and the movie will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The film is supposed to highlight the former captain’s achievements post the 2011 ICC World Cup win. It is very unlikely that Neeraj Pandey will don the director’s hat for this one though. Well, so it looks like Sushant will be busy with his upcoming movies and we can only hope that all of them are blockbusters.
