Veteran Actor Jeetendra Accused In A Sexual Assault Case After 47 Years

Written by Heer Pamnani

In a rather shocking turn of events, veteran actor and superstar of the 1960’s Jeetendra, has been accused of sexual assault by his cousin. The lady has withheld her name for personal reasons. She claims she had just turned 18 while Jeetedra was 28 back in January 1971.

Inspired by the social media campaign #MeToo started against American producer Harwey Weinstein by several Hollywood actors. The campaign became a nationwide rage with many known and common people admitting to have been sexually assaulted.

The cousin took after the same campaign #metoo and waited until both her parents passed away, in order to respect their sentiments. In her email to the Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, the victim has mentioned the actor sought her father’s permission to allow her to travel from New Delhi to Shimla for a film’s shoot.

In an inebriated state, the accused, Jeetendra, apparently joined the two single beds and sexually abused her. The victim has come out in the open to seek justice after the traumatic suffering of almost 5 decades.

However, the actor’s lawyer Rizwas Siddiquee has rubbished the claim, saying:

“Foremost, my client specifically and categorically denies any such incident. Besides, even otherwise such baseless, ridiculous and fabricated claims cannot be entertained by any court of law or the law enforcement agencies after a span of almost 50 years. The statute has provided a justice delivery system through the courts, and the Limitation Act 1963 was specifically enacted to ensure that all genuine complaints are made within a maximum time limit of three years, so that a proper investigation is carried out and timely justice is delivered. Besides I want to make it specifically clear that the law does not give any person any rights or liberties of making any baseless, ridiculous or fabricated claims against any man publicly and seek to defame him with a hidden personal agenda”

May justice prevail and the innocent party come out with dignity and honor.
