Of late, Vidya Balan has been on a promotional spree for her upcoming movie Tumhari Sulu which has her playing a vivacious housewife turned RJ who becomes immensely popular for her late night talk show. The movie has been generating a lot of buzz and is sure to be a game-changer for the actor whose recent films haven’t done so well at the box office.
Vidya Balan has made her mark with women-centric films in the past such as The Dirty Picture, Kahaani, No One Killed Jessica and others. The actor has been recognised for her talent with accolades such as the National Film Award, five Filmfare and Screen awards and several others. Vidya has always promoted a positive body image, despite receiving flak from the media and audiences alike for her weight and the fact that she doesn’t quite fit into the Bollywood stereotype of a slim actress.
Recently, at an event Vidya was surprisingly asked by a reporter, “Will you always pick women centric films or have you thought of losing weight?” The actor was appalled and shocked on being asked the ridiculous question that too ironically at an event organised to honour Women of Worth.
Balan brushed off the nonsensical question with a swift and firm reply saying, “I’m happy with the kind of work I’m doing but it would be really great if you people could change your mindset.” With that she shut down the reporter and chances of being asked nonsensical questions any further. More power to the bold actress! Tumhari Sulu is currently playing in theatres.
