Vijay Verma joins the cast of Gully Boy

Monsoon Shootout actor Vijay Verma joins the cast of Gully Boy along with Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin.

Gully Boy is based on the story of four comrades who are local rappers in the bustling city of dreams, Mumbai. The movie is based on the story of the rappers Naezy and Divine.

Vijay Verma, who was previously seen in the movies Monsoon Shootout and Pink would now play the role of a rapper whose life begins in the slums of Mumbai.

When asked about being a part of Gully Boy, Vijay said:

“Working with Zoya Akhtar is like a dream come true. She is one of the finest directors we have in the country and I am eagerly looking forward to shoot this one. Also sharing screen space with the mighty Ranveer Singh is gonna be fun!” – Vijay Verma


To prepare for the role, co-star Ranveer Singh had attended a few sessions with Naezy and Divine. Further, to get into the skins of the character, the actor has undergone a massive physical transformation.

The screenplay for the movie is written by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. Gully Boy is directed by Zoya Akhtar and is produced by Farhan Akhtar’s production company, Excel Entertainment.

The shooting for Gully Boy will take place in the suburbs of Mumbai unlike previous Zoya Akhtar movies which were shot in picturesque locations like Spain and the Mediterranean.
