There are three big Bollywood movies releasing this week – Fanney Khan, Karwaan, and Mulk. We put them all in the same league as there are three things common in all these films. Firstly, they all star popular actors in the film industry; secondly, they seem to have an interesting story; and last, they’re equally anticipated by the Indian audience.
Interestingly, all the three films also feature one star kid, one outsider, and one actor who has made it big in Bollywood. For example, Fanney Khan has Anil Kapoor (son of Surinder Kapoor), Rajkummar Rao (the outsider), and Aishwarya Rai (most popular actress since the 90s). Mulk, similarly, stars Prateik Babbar (son of Raj Babbar and Smita Patil), Taapsee Pannu (another outsider), and the famous Rishi Kapoor.
But here’s why we are partial towards the Akarsh Khurana film, Karwaan. The movie has put together a fantastic cast and crew, with a story penned by Bejoy Nambiar and co-produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The cast includes the popular actor Irrfan Khan, who never fails to crack us up; Mithila Palkar, who was previously seen in Katti Batti; and southern actor, Dulquer Salmaan. This will be Dulquer’s first film in Bollywood, having already made a mark in the South film industries. To those who do not know, DQ happens to be the son of Mollywood superstar, Mammootty. But unlike most Bollywood star kids, Dulquer has made a name for himself with fantastic performances in his movies. His choice of films also tells us a lot about the actor and gives us a lot of expectations from Karwaan.
The trailer of Karwaan was certainly a hit among the audience. What seems like a slice-of-life drama, the film follows Avinash, Shaukat, and Tanya, as they set off on an unexpected journey, where each one finds redemption, hope, love, and eventually, themselves. In the course of the movie, you are also likely to spot other actors like Amala Akkineni and Kriti Kharbanda, who makes a cameo appearance.
Karwaan hits theatres tomorrow. So skip the box office queue and pre-book your seats, only on BookMyShow.
