Chick flick movies are named that way because they’re usually targeted towards a female audience. Focused mostly on love, these movies are emotional and entertaining. But, as with any genre, the best of the films are so amazing that there’s no restrictions as to who might enjoy watching them. That’s the case with some of the best chick flick movies too. Here are five chick flick movies that everyone should watch:
Devil Wears Prada
Based on a book of the same name, Devil Wears Prada offers a close look at the fashion industry as well. With Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep in the lead roles, the film goes beyond showing women as stereotypes. Plus, it’s loads of fun too.
Many had not heard of acapella before Pitch Perfect, but the film introduced the world to many more things than that. The story of women who are a part of an acapella group is a hilarious comedy that will have anyone rolling in laughter. Its success led to two more sequels, but the original one remains a must-watch before the rest.
10 Things I Hate About You
Before there were rom-coms, there was William Shakespeare. Many of his comedy plays have been adapted to movies and 10 Things I Hate About You is one of the best ones. An adaptation of Taming of the Shrew set in a contemporary high school, it stars Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and more.
She’s The Man
Another William Shakespeare adaptation, She’s The Man is based on the play Twelfth Night. In this version, Viola (Amanda Bynes) is a high school girl who pretends to be her twin brother so she can play football. But things go wrong when she falls in love with her roommate Duke (Channing Tatum), who thinks she is a guy.
Starring Emma Stone, this is also a high school film which was partially inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter. Besides showing all the crazy things that can possibly go down in an American high school, the film also had a love story and a positive message to complete the package.
If you like any of these movies, there are many more chick flicks that deserve a watch.
