Aquaman To Receive Tough Competition At The Box Office

The Aquaman star Jason Momoa celebrated his birthday just yesterday on 1st August, with wishes from his step-daughter Zoe Kravitz on Instagram, and with the great reception for the film so far, things are looking good for the actor. A new trailer for Aquaman was recently released at San Diego Comic Con, and fans had only good things to say about it.

Aquaman is the first solo superhero film to come from DC after the success of Wonder Woman. While Justice League wasn’t received as well as expected due to the various reasons, Aquaman seems to be swimming on upward in popularity. However, with its release scheduled in December, it is going to face some tough competition as there are many big movies scheduled to release in the Christmas month.

The big films to release in December start with Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse, an animated Spiderman film from Sony Pictures Animation which takes a very different approach from the various avatars of Spiderman that we have come to know. But near the release of Aquaman, two other big films are releasing – the action film Alita: Battle Angel which is produced by James Cameron and Bumblebee which is the first Transformers film to not be directed by Michael Bay, but by Travis Knight, who directed the Oscar-nominated stop-motion film, Kubo and the Two Strings.  Mary Poppins Returns which features the return of one of the biggest children’s film characters played by Emily Blunt is also releasing around that time.

With the packed line-up of December, whether Aquaman will be able to be a big box-office hit remains to be seen. Aquaman is currently scheduled to be released on 21 December, 2018.
