Directed by Bill Condon, this latest Hollywood movie is based on the 1991 animated film, ‘Beauty and the Beast’. This long-awaited movie stars Emma Watson as the epitome of beauty she always has been, and it is worth all the wait. It is a live-action re-telling of the animated Disney classic love story which has stayed true to the original music and is written by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos and produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman. Emma playing the character of Belle has carried the whole movie fantastically along with the superb CGI work. The special effects bring the magic of the fairytale to back to life and how. CGI is brilliantly used in the part where it humanizes all the objects around the castle that was once human.

It is the adventurous journey of Belle, a happy, beautiful and independent young girl who is taken prisoner by a beast in a castle. Despite her fear which is obvious, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast`s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The awe of the opening scene of the movie is rather an experience which you won’t be able to unsee. The dresses, the dances, and the decor of the castle really transports you back to the era where the story was originally set. Belle’s Iconic Dress is reimagined as well as the Beast and Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Cogsworth and Plumette are nothing short of magical.

Alan Menken, who has won two Academy Awards- Best Original Score and Best Song for the animated film in 1992, has provided the score this time also, recreating the magic with original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, and three new songs written by Menken and Tim Rice. Celine Dion will also perform the Original Song called “How Does a Moment Last Forever”. In this attempt, though the tale is old and is well put, the telling is fresh and maybe that has set off certain audiences around the world. Everyone has been attached to the old tale since the childhood and watching this movie is a visual treat for all the good reasons. If you want to go all nostalgic this week and think of a classic Disney love story, this movie is going to do just the right justice.
