Unless you are living under a rock, you are aware about the release of DC’s next film, Aquaman, later this year. The movie stars Jason Momoa in the lead role and will be the sixth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). James Wan has directed the film and the name might sound familiar to you if you’re a horror movie fan. Wan is the man behind Saw, Insidious, and The Conjuring series. His first action venture was Furious 7 in 2015. Aquaman is his second action and first superhero film, which is set to release on December 21, 2018.

Aquaman takes place directly after the events of Justice League, where Arthur Curry (Aquaman) is caught in a battle between the surface dwellers that threaten his oceans and his own people. Being the reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, Aquaman has to now decide whether to invade the surface or lose his kingdom forever. His other half is called Mera, who is the warrior daughter of the king of the undersea nation of Xebel. Amber Heard takes on the role of Mera, while Patrick Wilson (who has previously worked with the director in the Conjuring and Insidious series) plays Orm – Aquaman’s half-brother, who seeks to unite the seven underwater kingdoms to declare war on the surface world. Orm (Ocean Master) is the main antagonist in the film, along with Black Manta (played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) – a ruthless treasure hunter and a high-seas mercenary.

The teaser of the film gave us the first look of Aquaman and Mera. Needless to say, this is a film every superhero fan is looking forward to. Even Marvel fanatics cannot contain their excitement for Aquaman and even Game of Thrones lovers have something to look out for in the film – Jason Momoa (who has played Khal Drogo in the series).
